Spend a day one-on-one or in a small group (4 maximum) with journalist and renowned author Adharanand Finn, learning how to improve your writing, how to edit it, pitch it and get it published.
Everyone has a story, but getting it down on paper, or selling the idea to a publisher is not always easy. The publishing world can seem full of closed doors, but there are ways to open them. In this intensive one-day course covering every aspect of writing, from getting started, to finding your voice, award-winning author Adharanand Finn shares all his experience and knowledge, helping you sharpen your writing and editing skills and giving you the inside track on getting your work published.
The day will be tailored to meet the needs of the student or group, but will include writing and editing sessions, feedback on a pre-prepared piece of work, discussion of the best ways to get published, how to pitch your work to an agent, the ins and outs of the publishing industry, how to promote yourself on social media and many other aspects of writing.
These courses are primarily aimed at those aspiring to be non-fiction authors, travel writers, feature writers, columnists or bloggers. For those writers who run, the day can begin with an optional easy run with Adharanand to get the creative juices flowing.
Adharanand is the author of two critically acclaimed books, Running with the Kenyans and The Way of the Runner (both Faber & Faber). The first was named Sunday Times Sports Book of the Year and was shortlisted for the William Hill Sports Book of the Year award, while Adharanand was named Best New Writer at the British Sports Book Awards. Both books have been translated into many languages and sell worldwide. His third book is due to be published by Guardian Faber in 2019.
Adharanand is also a regular feature writer for The Guardian, The FT, The Telegraph, The Sunday Times, National Geographic Traveller, Runner's World, Men's Health and many others.
